Mount Gambier Parks, Public Ovals, Sports Grounds & Playgrounds, SA

The Cave Gardens is one of the most popular attractions in town; featuring a sinkhole and numerous lookout points. Meanwhile, the manicured gardens are a stunning place to visit, especially during the spring when the beautiful roses bloom.

Mount Gambier also has unique attractions including the Valley Lake; a spectacular crater lake. Considered a hidden gem for some, the Valley Lake is an excellent place for a picnic or a stroll. There are several trails to explore around the lake with kid-friendly sights.

Families enjoy visiting the different Mount Gambier parks – especially the Railway Lands Nature Play Area. This popular recreational area is a well-loved community facility but more importantly, is an ode to the historic rail lands of the city. There are many fascinating aspects to discover here; uniquely how the old railway tracks were integrated into the park’s overall design. There are also numerous animal sculptures; facilities here include a pond, barbecue area, and large grassy fields for picnics.

The Pool of Siloam is another popular destination over in Beachport. What makes this site so interesting is that it’s said to be seven times saltier than the sea. It’s a terrific place to come during the summer for a refreshing swim, and experience what it’s like to be so buoyant. The water is also reputed to have healing properties, especially for those who suffer from aches and pains from arthritis.

Mount Gambier parks are lovely for the sheer abundance of outdoor activities to enjoy. Bring the whole family along to experience some priceless memories.
