The stunning Centenary Tower is among the most popular attractions in town. Built 190 meters above sea level, you’ll have panoramic views of the volcanic landscape, city, and countryside. The tower opened its doors in 1904, and today is still a top tourist destination. Inside, the tower is home to fascinating photograph displays of the Lakes area. Visit at night, and you’ll be treated to a colourful light show.

The Dingley Dell Conservation Park was once home to a famous Australian poet named Adam Lindsay Gordon. Today, this charming cottage is a museum where visitors can see Gordon’s many works and personal effects. Gordon lived a unique, interesting life which you’ll learn about in the park, which is located within an eco-friendly area.

The Main Corner Complex is one of the new Mount Gambier galleries. Innovative and exciting, the complex houses a slew of educational and entertainment venues. Come for a free film screening to learn about Mount Gambier, or check out the First Floor Theatre where visitors can engage in a state-of-the-art cinematic experience. Other highlights in the Main Corner Complex include the sound and light display at night, the Riddoch Art Gallery, and other fascinating exhibits.

The Millicent National Trust Museum is considered among South Australia’s best museums. In 1873 it was a primary school, but the building was transformed into a museum in 1960. Learn the stories of the Millicent times through the remarkably restored buggies, carriages, and horse-drawn wagons on display.

How about a trip to one of the Mount Gambier museums that also doubles as accommodation? The Old Mount Gambier Gaol promises a stay unlike any other, as it was once a prison from 1866 until 1995. Thanks to new management, the goal has undergone recent renovations and is now a stylish boutique and backpacker hostel.
