The Glencoe Woolshed is the very same place where shearing was first established by Edward and Robert Leake. The two brothers brought along with them Saxon Merino sheep from their father’s land in the Macquarie River. The woolshed is still around today, and it serves as a museum showcasing the historic art of wool handling and blade shearing, plus many interesting artefacts.

Blades of Glencoe’s rich historical and agricultural roots make this a whole day of fun for the family. Aside from witnessing blade shearing up close, there will be workshops, stalls selling high-quality wool products, delicious food, and a chance for all ages to come and experience an iconic element of the community.

There will also be dozens of stands that re-enact life back in the 1800s, which will surely delight visitors and history buffs alike. Cash prizes await the winners of the blade shearing competition.

The Glencoe Woolshed is located at Corner Glencoe Road and Woolshed Road in Glencoe, South Australia. The area is wheelchair accessible, and parking is available for those who bring a car. Picnic tables are also available at the woolshed.
