This cave is very often referred to as the ‘Jewel in Crown’ of the Lower Glenelg National Park. Formed by the constant dripping of rainwater through limestone for thousands of years, this cave is a marvel to look at. The trickle of rainwater and river erosion has created extraordinary caves in this region. The different colours of the caves come from years of tannins and minerals washing down from the soil above.

Looking for something to do on a rainy day in Mount Gambier? Take a 40 minutes tour of the Rose Cave. The expert guide will explain to you the many unique and interesting features of the cave. If you like geography, geology or history, you’ll definitely get something out of a visit to this natural wonder. Please note that there are 65 steps down to the cave with no disabled access.
